Just Released: High(er) res images of upcoming Hot Wheels, includingthe Porsche 934, BMW E36, and Datsun 510...

Mattel gave collectors a little surprise on the HWC homepage yesterday, releasing a PDF version of the sneak peek slide show presented at the Hot Wheels Nationals Convention earlier this month.

We were able to get still shots of the presentation when it happened, some of which we shared here. Of course the announcement of the Porsche 934 and BMW E36 caused instant buzz.

We can now get a better view if what is coming thanks to the slide show file, and there are a few at the very top of the Lamley want list. Check these beauties out:

Just Released: 2014 Matchbox Land Rover Defender 110, Cadillac CTS Coupe, '68 Mustang GT/CS, Seagrave Fire Engine, and Morgan Aeromax...

Looks like the latest batch of Matchbox has hit the UK, and new 5- an 9-packs have hit the US. There are a lot of models appearing, but we will only focus on those we find the most interesting.

We are most excited about is coming in the mainline. Thanks to this ebay seller

, we have the first images of the 2014 versions of the Cadillac CTS Coupe, Seagrave Fire Engine, and '68 Mustang:

The Mustang looks great in brown, as does the Seagrave in red (surprise!), but it is the CTS Coupe we are most happy about. The Coupe has been a Matchbox fave around here, both in 1:1 scale and as a Matchbox model, but it has been sadly underused. It was released in the 2011 mainline, recolored for the exclusives 10-pack that same year, and never heard from again. Until now. It looks fantastic in red, and we are thrilled to see it sitting on 5-spoke wheels. Considering we have several of the first two colors, plus a prepro we won at a Mattel Charity auction, we might be picking up a decent number of the latest CTS Coupe...

Now on to the 5-packs. Two have been released, a Construction 5-pack and one called "Jungle Recon". We will focus on the Jungle Recon because of this:

The Land Rover Defender 110 is a collector fave, and this new version appears to be no exception. Great color, wheels, and deco. We found it on ebay here

Lastly, new 9-car Gift Packs are out as well, and the exclusives are fantastic. Our good friends over at the Diecast Bliss Blog (a blog very much worth checking out) broke the news, and are showing the first pics of the exclusive Morgan Aeromax and Ford F-100 Panel Van:

Yes, we feel it too. There is distinct buzz starting to emerge around the Matchbox line again. A buzz we haven't heard in awhile. There is still a lot that needs to happen to get that buzz to full volume, but we might be headed in the right direction. This year's convention should be VERY interesting...

Just Released: Carded versions of the 2014 Hot Wheels Twin Mill Super, The Homer, Alpine White BMW E30, and more...

Ah, the science of Mattel distribution. I am not a hobby dealer, nor do I play one on TV. But I know a few. How some get some models early, and others don't is beyond me. At least, in most cases, these models will all eventually make it to the pegs.

But we sure love to see them when they are released. And in our online travels, a few carded models have emerged.

Starting with an upcoming Super Treasure Hunt, the Twin Mill:

We have spent a great deal of time here at Lamley explaining that Regular TH's are for budding collectors (aka kids), and Super TH's for adult/already-in-deep collectors. That is why Regs are heavy on fantasy and Supers on realism. Well, the Twin Mill is fantasy, but a one of the most collector-aimed non-licensed models there is. It is as classic as they come. And it appears Hot Wheels is releasing one of these every year as a Super, among 14 other licensed models. Last year it was the Bone Shaker, this year the Twin Mill. Next year the Beatnik Bandit? Or Dixie Challenger? (Yes I know it is a Challenger, but it is more Hot Wheels than Dodge.)

So we here won't get too excited about the Twin Mill, but won't hesitate to snag one off the pegs if we come across it.

Next, several models from upcoming Batch F have emerged on their cards, and we are licking our chops at this batch. Yeah, everyone wants to see The Homer, which appears to be very well executed, but we here are more interested in many of the other models in the batch.

Lamley News: More new Hot Wheels multipack exclusives have been released...

We are having more and more fun with these multipack exclusives. We will continue to say we love what Mattel is doing, using the multipacks to release more recolors of popular mainlines.

And after a visit to Smith's today (our local Kroger chain), we have discovered even more:

We have seen the Mini and Porsche unveiled on T-Hunted, but now we can confirm that they are in fact multipack cars. The orange Mini Challenge is now the 5th color of the 2011 New Model, following red, blue, and white in the 2011 mainline, and yellow in multipacks in 2013.

The Porsche is a recolor of last year's multipack version in metalflake grey, which is a recolor of maybe the 2010 First Edition, or the 2011 Nightburnerz, or the 2012 All-Stars versions. We have no idea because all share front and rear detailing with no side deco.

The Beetle is a surprise. We had no idea this one was coming out. We just mentioned a few days ago that we were disappointed we hadn't seen the New Beetle casting since its debut, and here it is. This may mean we will see the third color in 2015. This is a great casting and we are happy to see it getting attention again.

We brought a 9-pack home with us, as one contained the Porsche, Beetle, as well as other recently released multipack cars. The Mini had to stay at the store. How about some pics?
