First Look: Hot Wheels HW Road Trippin' '83 Chevy Silverado...

This was a little surprise.

While many of us were frantically hitting the stores to find the '83 Silverado Super Treasure Hunt, Hot Wheels quietly released another Silverado in the Walmart Exclusive Road Trippin line.

The Road Trippin line hasn't been talked about too much, probably because there is no chase in the lineup, and as we know collectors love their chase models.  It is also the third incarnation of the Walmart sets that sit right next to the main line pegs.  We had the Decades models (pretty good), Jukebox (pretty bad), and now the Road Trippin.

At first glance, the themed models with the wordy deco on them doesn't do much for a collector like me.  But then you see the roads that Mattel has chosen to be celebrated in this set, and you start to come around.

If you haven't looked up the roads, you should.  You might be near one of them.  Or you might need to take a trip and drive one of them.

And that is one of the reasons I like this Silverado.  It is one of my favorite pickup castings, so leaving it behind was not an option.  The other reason is because it represents the amazing Highway 1 at Big Sur.  If you haven't driven Hwy 1 from Monterry through Big Sur and back, you really should. And the secret?  Stop at Pfeiffer Beach.  You will not be disappointed.

So if you can't make it to California tomorrow to hit Big Sur, you can go grab one of the Silverados, if you can find it.  So far it is being gobbled up by those that encounter it on the pegs.  There is always ebay.

Lamley Poll: What the Best Hot Wheels Zamac Exclusive so far?

There has now been 30 Walmart Zamacs released in the last two years, with still a few more to come in 2014.

These unpainted treats have proven very popular, and Hot Wheels has delivered with a great assortment of models for all types of collectors.  We see classics, muscle, supercars, JDM, current cars, land yachts, pickups, and on and on.  What we haven't seen, and are keeping our fingers crossed that we don't, are any non-licensed models or Hot Wheels originals.

So to us, the Zamacs have been a rousing success, and we hope Walmart and Mattel have made a deal to keep them coming in 2015.

In the meantime, we thought we would conduct a poll.  Before the Nissan Skyline 2000GT-X hits in Batch N, which will be an obvious favorite for many Lamley readers, we thought we would ask.

So, below are photos of all 30 released so far, shown in numerical order as provided by Mattel.  Look to your right and you will see the poll.  Let is know which one is your favorite by voting.  Later we will reveal your choice and ours.

This should be fun...

Just Unveiled: Hot Wheels Zamac Exclusives for 2014 Batch N...

Wait, aren't we waiting for the Batch L Zamacs to arrive?

We are, and they should arrive very soon.  The Chevelle Wagon, Lincoln Continental, and '69 Chevy Pickup should be in stores in the next couple of weeks.  But in the world of Hot Wheels they are already old news.

Some interesting eBay listings popped up from Texas this weekend, showcasing what the specific three Zamacs would be for Batch N, and they do not disappoint.  We knew these were coming eventually, we just didn't know when.  A little Ford, a little Chevy, and a little JDM never hurt anyone:

Nice trio, eh?  Mustang fans will love the '67 Custom, but we here at Lamley can't wait to get our hands on the Hakosuka Skyline and Chevelle SS.  In fact, we might have to get an extra, or 10.

Nonetheless, the Zamacs continue to be a very strong line in 2014, with three more to be unveiled.  At the pace we are going, we might know what they are tomorrow...
