15 Super Treasure Hunts in 15 Days: 10 '72 Ford Ranchero...
With the last Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt of 2013 hitting the pegs, it is time look back at them all. Over the next 15 weekdays, the Lamley Group will showcase one Super each day, in order from first released to last...
If you missed it:
01 '72 Gran Torino Sport
02 Corvette ZR1
03 '73 Ford Falcon XB
04 '71 El Camino
05 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake
06 '64 Buick Riviera
07 Bone Shaker
08 '62 Corvette
09 Toyota 2000GT
We were on such a streak, and then Friday came. Nine weekdays, nine Super THs. And then on Friday, after a return home from work, and starring at a basement that has been going through renovations for the last couple of days, the idea of sitting down and putting together a blog post was not an appealing one.
So I am at the temporary Lamley offices (some call it the kitchen table) putting together a quick post on the 10th 2013 Super. That way we can keep the streak alive and move on with #11 tomorrow. OCD at its best, eh? If the 15th doesn't post Friday, the world might end.
So here is the Ford Ranchero. Another model that debuts in the mainline as a Super. It has the grill of the Torino (early 70's Fords...yummy) and looks a lot like the Riviera Hunt from a couple of months earlier. It is also similar to the 2000GT Super in that it carries a metal base, while the standard model is plastic. I assume that was done because there were a few left over from the premium lines of previous years. A nice touch, when it can happen.
It is also a narrow model, which probably explains small wheels in the back. Large most likely don't fit.
Wow, what a compelling read. I just described a Super Treasure Hunt. Maybe the kitchen table does not breed creativity, or maybe it is the smell of bran muffins just out of the oven and I want to finish this post. Bye.
(Find the '72 Ranchero, in all its forms, on ebay...)
