Model of the Day: Hot Wheels 2009 Ferrari Racers Ferrari 365 GTS4 Daytona Spider...
Well we know that as many Matchbox, Kyosho, and Tomica Limited Vintage models we like to show, Hot Wheels will always be our bread and butter. So considering we are at the midpoint of the week, we are obligated under contract to show a Hot Wheels model. (We drafted and signed the contract ourselves. We know what the readers like...)
So we picked a good one.
In real life, there were not many Ferrari Daytona Spiders produced, so Hot Wheels has followed suit and kept their version of the Spider very limited. Not only have they produced only two versions, they put them in off-the-beaten path ranges. One, in grey, was part of the 2010 Valentine exclusive line at Walmart, and the other was included in the very elusive part of the 2009 Ferrari Racers line that was ignored by US Toys R Us stores and found mostly overseas.
So we are featuring the Ferrari Racers version. It is one of the best looking Ferraris on the road (or better, in private collections), and since the model was so well executed by Mattel, it is one of the best looking Hot Wheels Ferraris. This Racers version is near perfect in its signature red and fine detailing, but it does make one wonder what this model would have looked like sitting on GT Real Riders in the Boulevard line. I never liked the F50 that was put in Boulevard, and would have loved to see this underused beauty in its place.
But I am sure there will be plenty of chances to see it on Real Riders, and I hope that day comes soon.
(We perused ebay looking for this model, and found one. Here are all the current Ferrari 365 listings, so see if you can find it. It is very much worth having...)
