First Look: OEM Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV...
There are times here at Lamley when we just don't know what to write to accompany a model we showcase. We will be hit with that a few times in the next days as we feature some of the 1/64 models from the ex-Kyosho OEM factory. We have today's Lamborghini, an Aventador, three versions of the Ferrari 458 GT2, and the two Daboxtoy's Toyota 86 exclusives. It will be a long run of stunners.
There are a few reasons why we don't have much to say. One obvious reason is these models are, in fact, stunning, and don't need much explaining as to why. The other is they are very current cars. What hasn't been said lately about the Aventador? Or the 458 Italia? Or the (almost) overexposed but completely-deserving-of-attention Toyota 86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ?
What is great about what the OEM factory is doing is that they produce spot-on and beautiful versions of very current cars. We have seen near-perfect versions of the models mentioned above, as well as models like the Nissan GT-R, Pagani Huayra, and VW Beetle. And we hope they keep doing it.
When it comes to "non-Mattel" collectible 1:64, we at Lamley are enamored with the classic cars being done by Tomica Limited Vintage, as well as the current and past cars in each Kyosho set (the Alfa Romeo and Mazda sets will be featured shortly). What puts those two brands at the top for us is the character that comes from the choice of cars they decide to turn mini. You can see it and feel it as soon as the models are in hand. It might not be the exact feeling you get when the hood is popped on a classic TA22 Celica, but it is pretty darn close. How about we call it a miniature version of that feeling?
That feeling does not accompany current supercars. The term "character" isn't one that supercar enthusiasts throw around. "Jaw-dropping", "stunning", and "mind-blowing" are more accepted terms. Supercars are dramatic in looks and performance, and that is what the OEM models are able to capture. So while we prefer the "character" of the classics, we won't ever reject the "drama" of the supercars. Someone has to do it, and right now it is the OEM factory doing a tremendous job.
So as we show these OEM models over the coming days, we won't have much to say. Just know our minds are blown and our jaws have dropped just as much as the rest of you. These models are totally worth having.
Enjoy the Lamborghini. It is stunning...
(Find this and the other OEM models at Daboxtoys Model Cars. But be quick, these models sell out fast...)
